Not Saved Your Work in Microsoft Office?

lady-upset.jpg#asset:2471So have you ever closed down a document without saving - or it crashed before you got chance to save?

Many people assume that is the end of that - and start again. However it is possible to get a document back as Microsoft has a AutoRecover feature that saves every 10 minutes. Yes even on documents that you haven't named.

So here is your instructions:

Steps for Office 2010, Office 2013 or Office 2016

  1. On the File menu, click Open, and then click Recent Documents.
  2. Scroll to the end of all recent documents, and then click Recover Unsaved Documents.
  3. If you find the Word document that you are looking for, double-click it to open it. The file extension will end in .asd (AutoRecover files).
  4. When the file is open you can then save it as normal.

Steps for Office 2007

  1. Click the Microsoft Office Button, and then click Word Options or Excel Options etc.
  2. In the Navigation Pane, click Save.
  3. In the AutoRecover file location box, note the path, and then click Cancel.
  4. Close Word or Excel.
  5. Open the folder that you noted in step 3.
  6. Look for files whose names end in .asd (AutoRecover files).
  7. If you find the Word document that you are looking for, double-click it to open it.
  8. When the file is open you can then save it as normal.

I hope that helps!
